On December 6, 1902, my wife presented me with Science and Health as a birthday gift, and it was indeed the best present I ever received. When quite young I was impressed that the Bible was not properly interpreted by the preachers, for I could not conceive of a God of wrath who was unjust enough to allow His little ones to suffer pain, misery, and death.
