The Directors' Report

For the Year ending April 30th, 1885.

Received and Adopted at the 19th Annual General Meeting of the Company, held on Tuesday, June 30th, at the Masonic Hall, New St., Birmingham.


THE Company's past financial year has been one of very exceptional we expected to do a year ago, we have made an increase of £12,150 0s. 5d. in our Income; carry forward a balance of £10,444 12s. 2d., and reduce our working expenses by nearly three per cent.

New Business.-The Proposals received during the year were 143,880, and the Annual Premium thereon £66,485 145. 5d. Policies issued 123,335, and Annual Premium £55,273 17s. 0d. Finance.—The total Income for the year as £131,892 13s. 9d., and total Payments £121,448 1s. 7d., leaving a balance upon the year's Accounts of £10,444 12s. 2d., making the total Funds at the close of the year £56,467 1s. 10d Amount paid in Claims during the year was £54,755 19s. 8d. The number of Assurants upon the Company's books at the commencement of the present year was 302,416, and their Annual premium will be £146,050 10s. 5d. A Dividend at the rate of 10 per cent. was declared upon the paid up Capital of the Company.
