The officers of the Society were re-elected.

At a meeting held June 9, 1873, the Secretary and Treasurer made the following report :

The balance was voted to be appropriated to the Secretary and Treasurer in part payment of his services.

It was resolved to hold a general Convention, " under the auspices and for the purposes of the Southern Historical Society," at the Montgomery White Sulphur Springs on the second Thursday of August, 1873.

The Convention met in pursuance thereto August 14, 1873. Gen- eral Beauregard was called to the chair pro tempore, and Rev. J. Wm. Jones was made Secretary. A communication from Rev. B. M. Palmer, D. D., General Henry T. Hays, and General G. T. Beauregard, of the Executive Committee of the Southern Historical Society, giving an account of its organization, objects and prospects, was read. The Committee on Credentials reported the following delegates as present : .
