we beseech Thee to preserve us from all the perils and dangers with which evil and sin surround us in this life, that so, being conjoined with Thee, we may hold fast the life that is everlasting. O God of heaven, in whom dwells bodily all Divine fulness—Father, Son, and Spirit—the Love that creates, the Wisdom that redeems, and the Influence that enlightens and preserves, we would raise our thoughts to bless and praise Thee for thy never-failing—thy preserving mercy. O teach us to worship Thee in spirit and in truth; so shall our ardent desire to unite holiness with our profession, be as the salt of thy truth, to season and enrich the sacrifice we offer. God of truth and mercy! we thank thee for all the mercies of the past week; and we pray Thee to prepare our minds for the delightful privileges of the approaching Sabbath. Enlighten the ministry to ex pound thy Word in its fulness and power; give to thy people the attentive ear, and the obedient heart; so shall the hallowed cloud, the emblem of thy presence, be seen in our assemblies, and the flock of thy pasture be fed with the marrow and fatness of thy house.
