the truths of the Written Word by unmeaning traditions, and what they had done to the Written Word, was, by their rejection and crucifixion of Him who came to save and bless, performed over again upon the Word Incarnate. May we all learn a lesson from Jewish folly, and acknowledge Jesus as the true King of the Jews! He is the ruling principle or Truth in the universal Church of God, as well as in the minds of all those who are Jews, not merely outwardly or in lip profession, but inwardly in the heart and life; for as the Apostle truly observes, "He is not a Jew which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outwardly in the flesh: but he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of man but of God. (Rom. ii. 28, 29.)


April Seventh.

NEBUCHADNEZZAR'S IMAGE.

"This Image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass, his legs of iron, his feet, part of iron, and part of clay."Dan. ii. 32, 33.

THIS singular image seen by Nebuchadnezzar in a dream, and interpreted by Daniel, involves, in its spiritual import, a more important lesson of instruction than what appears in the letter. Earthly kingdoms will continue to fluctuate, to rise and fall; but the church, as the kingdom of God, will stand for ever.
