distinction between man and brutes, between the reason of the one and the instinct of the other. God, who is Love itself, is the centre of His own creation, whose life reaches the circumference and sustains all. He is, therefore, that spiritual Sun of the whole universe of systems, of which every sun of every system is a type and symbol. God is the only being who IS, the one Life, and cause of all motion in created recipients. To Him alone, we ascribe the glory, power, and kingdom.

Those who say in their hearts, "there is no God," are void of sound rationality, and the Scriptures assert that they are corrupt, "they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good." There is, certainly, no wisdom in the fool's declaration! every beating pulse, every good wish and thought, seems to speak the existence of One whose only desire is first to create, and then to bless. God is all love; and heaven, formed from His love, is all joy and happiness divine! Who can wish for annihilation that has love to God and man in his soul! Such a wish is as

"The dying groan
Of Nature, murdered by the blackest guilt.
Nature's first wish is endless happiness;
Annihilation is an after-thought,
A monstrous wish unborn, till Virtue dies.
And, oh! what depth of horror lies inclosed!
For non-existence no man ever wished,
But first he wished the Deity destroyed."

Leave then, dear reader! the fool's declaration, and take up with the dictates of wisdom. These teach that there is a God—the merciful Father, Creator, Redeemer, and Sanctifier of the world, who is good to
