Communications- — There were 330 miles of railway in 1918, and 440 miles of telegraph line with 1,521 miles of wire, and 363 telegraph offices in 1919. There were also (1919) 109 telephone systems with 962 miles of line and 4,993 miles of wire. In 1919 there were 118 post-offices, through which there passed 13,393,000 letters and 6,276,000 post-cards, kc.
