Castro's East Sacrament, and Other Stories By Jllbert Dorrington " The most brilliant short stories ever written in Australia." FROM every critic of literature in Australia, upon its publication in 1900, came warm praise of "Castro's Last Sacrament." The book was recognised at once as containing the most dramatic work in the field of the short story yet accomplished in this country. The author, Albert Dorrington, is a young Englishman who came to Australia at the age of sixteen, and gained his knowledge of the land and its people in travel which extended over the whole extent of Eastern Australia, from Cape York to Cape Howe and west-ward to the Diamantina. His book is full of vital observation, expressed with a graphic pen: the terse strength of some of the stories is astonishing. The volume contains twenty-two tales and sketches, gathered in many fields. In decorated cloth binding, 347 pp. Price, 4s. 6d. Jit Dawn and Dusk By Victor 3.
