no further off; there is no break in His two-fold universe of which man is still an inhabitant. The Divine Man, the Lord, has now a heaven of angels, inmostly in each one of whom He dwells as in a little heaven and spiritual world. Into each angel he can flow with the fulness of His wisdom, and clothing it with a spiritual garment of angelic thought, descend into the ideas of speech of which nothing is lost. Thus the Lord as the Word, filling the person of an angel, may clothe and speak His wisdom in the language of human ideas; and then opening the spiritual senses of a man in the world, dictate His Word to be spoken or recorded in the language of the world. Thus is given the written Word through heaven, by means of prepared men, but as the work of God.

THE WRITTEN WORD.

The written Word is as Divine in its origin as are the things of nature. It is produced in the same way through heaven from the Lord. And thus produced the eternal mind dwells in it and operates by it, as it infills and works in the universe it has made. There is the same distinction between inspired Scripture and merely human com-
