represent something of the Lord's kingdom." "The affections of the Lord's love are infinite, and the perceptions of his wisdom are infinite; and of these all and everything that appears upon the earth are correspondences." In the spiritual world there are similar correspondences with those who receive affections and perceptions from the Lord; there instantaneously created according to the affections of the angels, and here in like manner at the beginning, but clothed with the dead matter of the atmospheres and earths, and continued by procreations for the sake of permanence and re-action. And since all things in order in the natural world correspond to the affections and perceptions of the Divine love and wisdom, and thus to the creations thence in the spiritual world through the minds of those who are there, they also correspond to the affections and thoughts of man's mind. Thus the earth in general corresponds to man as a whole; its various products which serve for the nourishment and sustenance of the human race correspond to the various kinds of good and truth which nourish the life of affection and thought.
