PREFACE.
DIVINITY and Physic, being my chief Study for ſome years bypaſt, I have endeavoured, under God, to be uſeful in relieving the Sick, by the frequent uſe of Herbs, in which I have had an abundant ſucceſs. This, numbers can well atteſt, by the benefit they received from my Herbacious Medicines: Alſo, by the ſkill of Blood, and Art of Bleeding, I have removed a deal of Diſorders, and Diſtempers. Now, for the good of mankind in general, and ſympathy I have toward thoſe who groan under pain, I here publiſh the following Receipts, (that every Reader may find the benefit, in my earneſt wiſh,) for by this Book people may Cure themſelves with very ſmall expence: As many People are not able to pay Dear Doctors, this will be their Cheap Phyſician: Beſides, in ſome places, a Doctor well ſkilled, is not eaſy to be found; for he may be at a great diſtance, when this Humble Doctor will lodge in the meaneſt Cottage.
The Patients who peruſe this Work, needs be at no loſs to underſtand the whole body thereof; for, with great labour and pains, I have explained every difficult Word and Termination. Thoſe Druggs, Herbs, Flower and Diſeaſes that bears certain names unknown to many people, they will no doubt be a little ſurpriſed to ſee here how ſimple they are, in their own language, and how eaſily they may be attained, as oftentimes preſenting themſelves at their doors, and yet lightly esteemed.
I conclude, wiſhing that the Lord may ſend his bleſſing with every honeſt endeavour, that Men and Women on this earth may ſee the love I bear to my fellow creatures, and numbers yet unborn atteſt the good ⟨of⟩ theſe ſimple Cures: For this is the intent and well meant purpoſe of
