Oh! Sacred Heart of Jesus, I implore
That I may love Thee daily more and more.
It is a pious custom observed by some Catholics to trace on their forehead these four letters, I.N.R.I. [Jesus Nazarenus Rex Judaeorum] saying —
May Jesus Christ, my King, preserve me from a sudden and unprepared death. Amen.
IN ANY TIME OF TRIAL.
O most compassionate Jesus! Thou alone art our salvation, our life, and our resurrection. We implore Thee, therefore, do not forsake us in our needs and afflictions; but, by the agony of Thy most Sacred Heart, and by the sorrows of Thy immaculate Mother, succour Thy servants whom Thou hast redeemed by Thy most precious blood.
