tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit, is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. But go ye and learn what this meaneth; I will have mercy, and not sacrifice. For I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fell into a pit on the sabbath-day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the Sabbath-days.

Wo unto the world because of offences! For it must needs be that offences come; but wo to that man by whom the offence cometh!

Thou shalt do no murder; Thou shalt not commit adultery; Thou shalt not steal; Thou shalt not bear false witness; Honor thy father and mother; and Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. If thou wilt be perfect, go, sell that thou hast, and give to the poor; and thou shalt have treasure in heaven.

But wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for ye neither go in, neither suffer them that are entering to go in. Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer; therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites ! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he is made, ye make him two-fold more the child of hell than yourselves. Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint, and anise, and cummin ; and have omitted the weighter matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith. These ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Ye blind guides! which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel! Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and (??)
