TWELFTH WEEK.

In our prayers unto Thee may we "be not faithless but believing;" knowing that only the prayer of the righteous availeth much. Lord, help us, for in Thee alone do we trust. Amen.

Our Father, etc.

WEDNESDAY MORNING.

O LORD God our Saviour, "how excellent is Thy loving-kindness, therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Thy wings. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of Thy house, and Thou shalt make them drink of the river of Thy pleasures. For with Thee is the fountain of life; in Thy light shalt we see light. O continue Thy loving-kindness unto them that know Thee, and Thy righteousness to the upright in heart."

At the opening of a new day, permit us to approach Thee, and render unto Thee that reverential homage which is due to Thy name. O God, Thou art our God; early will we seek Thee. Lord be with us, we beseech Thee, this day, that in faithfulness we may perform our duties; and may the true spirit of holiness penetrate all our thoughts, words, and actions. We would enter upon the engagements of another day in Thy love and fear. It is by Thy strength only that we can be kept from evil, and it is only by Thy preventing grace that we can discharge with fidelity those duties which Thy providence has assigned us.

Lord, suffer us not this day to be ensnared by our besetting sins, nor to fall under the influence of our corrupt appetites and propensities. Arm us by Thy truth, that we may resist the subtleties of our great adversary. Let Thy fear be constantly before our eyes that we sin not. To the heads of this family communicate that knowledge and wisdom which shall enable them to guide with prudence those whom Thou hast entrusted to their care. We ask these things, O Lord, for Thy name and mercy sake. Amen.

Our Father, etc.

WEDNESDAY EVENING.

LORD God and Saviour of all mankind, as we through Thy mercy have been brought through this day, we would humbly approach Thee, praying that Thou wouldest also bring us safely through the night.

How great are the privileges conferred upon us, enabling us to draw near unto Thee at all times, confessing our infirmities, our errors, and evils, and still finding mercy from Thee, and grace to help in every time of need.

If we have committed evil, shall not the Lord of all the earth search us out? O Lord, we may not have indulged in any open violation of the letter of Thy commandments, but Thy law. O Lord, is spiritual, and they who truly serve and worship Thee, must worship and obey Thee in spirit and in truth. O Lord Jesus Christ, aid us, we beseech Thee, to become spiritually minded, and to serve Thee, not in oldness of the letter, but in newness of spirit, for Thou hast taught us that unless our righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, we cannot enter into Thy heavenly kingdom. We confess, O Lord, that
