good. But multitudinous as are the species of men and animals on this earth with which we are acquainted, how many more must be altogether unknown to us! How vast are the forests unexplored in which are small and great beasts of which we have no idea; but Thou Lord art acquainted with all, and callest them all by their names.

O Lord, how manifold are Thy works; how divine is the wisdom that planned and the providence which supports such vast multitudes! Such knowledge is too wonderful for us; it is high; we cannot attain to it. In humble adoration we therefore join in the song of Thy inspired one: "Bless the Lord, Oh our souls, and all that is within us bless His holy name." Amen.

THURSDAY EVENING.

O LORD Jesus Christ, it has been prophecied that the "Gentiles shall come to Thy light, and kings shall assemble to the brightness of Thy rising." May those who have been immersed in darkness behold the light now beaming forth from Thee the glorious Sun of Righteousness, until, convinced that Thou hast again appeared in the glory of Thy Word, they may be enabled with holy joy to exclaim, "Lo, this is our God, we have waited for Him, and He will save us: this is the Lord, we have waited for Him, we will rejoice and be glad in His salvation." Lord, we pray Thee that all the families of the earth may be brought to see and to acknowledge that there is no God else beside Thee, a just God, and a Saviour; there is none beside Thee. Hasten the fulfilment of prophecy, we beseech Thee, when the knowledge of Thee shall go forth as brightness, and the salvation of Thee as a lamp that burneth; when all shall know Thee from the least even unto the greatest, until the remotest tribes of the earth join in the devout acknowledgment that there is one God, and His name One; and that there is no other name under heaven whereby man can be saved than Thine, O gloritied Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

O Lord, again we surrender our souls and bodies to Thy gracious keeping; watch over us and preserve us during this night, we beseech Thee. And grant Thy blessing to our relations and friends, to the ministers of Thy truth, and to all the families of mankind. Amen.

FRIDAY MORNING.

O LORD Almighty, our heavenly Father, with chastened thoughts of Thy divine goodness, O may we never approach Thee otherwise than in a spirit of repentance and gratitude. Reflecting on Thy greatness and immensity, may we never approach Thee otherwise than in a spirit of humility; may the greatness of Thy majesty be ever before us, and may the glory of Thy character teach us to stand in awe that we sin not.

With reverence we would approach and kneel in Thy presence this morning; and we would pray for Thy blessing on the engagements of this day, and for the guidance of Thy good Spirit, that all our doings may be done in charity. Thy holy Word which we have this morning
