194 TWENTY-SEVENTH WEEK.
in Thee. O let Thy love be shed abroad in all our hearts, so that from it, ag from a bleased contre, there may go forth @ perpetually hallowing warmth, to give life and animation to all our actions. Enable us for this purpose to keep our affections and thoughts fixed continually upon Theo as the Supreme Divine Good, and in every engagement upon which we may enter, suffer Thy love to permeate it, throughout.
'All goodness ia from Theo alone. O grant that, as we see this goodnesa manifested in our brethren, in varied and innumerable modi, fications, we may love all mankind. May we seek the good by which they are distinguished, and strive to make it the model by which we ourselves would shadow forth, in our own persons, our portion of Thy heavenly goodness. Amen.

SABBATH EVENING.
LORD Jesus Christ, help us to follow that example of goodness which exemplified itself when on earth, by letting our charity be known of all men. May we seek occasions for its exercise without vanity and without ostentation. May we remember Thy divine counsel, and when we bestow alms, let not our left hand know what our right hand doeth, not seeking the praise of men, but lifting up our eyes and behoiding Thee only, and secking our reward from Thee alone; who, seeing in secret, will reward every one of us according as his works shall be.
Lord, let Thy blessing rest upon Thy Church, and upon every individual member thereof. O may we see our neighbour (next to Thee, who hast condescended to be our neighbour in the supreme sense) in Thy Church, and strive to promote its advancement among men; happy that Thou hast permitted us to "become the visible members of Thy Church on earth," may it be ever dear unto us. May its interests be our interest, its privileges our privileges, its life our life; and enjoying in it that happiness which can nowhere else be enjoyed on earth, may we strive to make others acquainted with its heavenly doctrines; may we be diligent to proclaim "the Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, long-suffering and abundant in goodness and truth." May we, with fervent spirits, intreat our fellow-men to hearken unto us, that we may tell them all that Thou, O Lord, "hast done for our souls;" and, O Lord God our Saviour, aid us, we beseech Thee, to perform all our duties in singlenest of eye and purity of heart; for in doing this our charity beeomes known to all men.
Remove from us all selfishness; teach us to shun every evil as a sin against Thee. Sanctify to our eternal happiness, and to the good of our fellow-creatures, the duties of this day, and may we feel that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. Amen.
