MONDAY EVENING.

LORD of hosts. God of all the families of the earth. Thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were bronght forth, or ever Thou hadet formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting Thou art God. " Thou sittest upon the throne of the heavens; Thine eyes behold. Thine eyelids try, the children of men." There is none so mean but is the object of Thy care; none s0 mighty but that owes all his power unto Thee. Thou art ever the same,—mercifnl and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodnesa and truth. Thon desirest the happiness of ali, and Thy righteous dispensations are exercised, that all may be made partakers of Thy eternal

kingdom.:

'With feelings of contrition. O Lord, we acknowledge that we have sinned against Thee, and have too frequently stifled the voice of eonscience, which, pleading within us, has convicted us of sin. We cannot say we have this day preserved ourselves free from evil, uor can any one of us with truth declare that we have been obedient to Thy divine precepts. We have felt the love of evil warring within us, and striving to suifceate the desire of doing good; and. O Lord, we acknowledgo that we are at all times too prone to give the rein to our licentious appetites rather then to bring onrsolyes under the restraining power of Thy Word. © forgive ns, most gracious Saviour, for Thon only art our Propitistor, our most Mercifal One. Amen.

Our Father, ete. '

TUESDAY MORNING.

O INFINITE, eternal, and omnipotent Jehovah; Thou art the Creator and Sustainer of all worlds, and there is no one of Thy creatures but that is the object of Thy paternal care. All Thy works declare Thy wisdom, and all speak to the praise of Thy goodness. Of things in the heavens, and of things upon the earth, and of things in the sea, there is a constant witness that Thy love is universal, and Thy tender mercy is over all Thy works. Even in the fearful storm, in the thunder, and hail, did we but know how to read Thy visitations aright, we should still adore Thee: while we stood in awe, we should still look through Thy judgments to the love that permitted them, and acknowledge that there was none like unto Thee in all the earth, who alone knew what was best for us.

While fire and hail, snow and vapour, and stormy wind fulfil Thy Word; while the evidences of Thy paternal goodness are before us in the provision which is made for all that is created; while the adoring hosts of angels magnify Thy name, and man is gifted with high and lofty intellect, that he may the better show forth Thy goodness in themes of praise and thanksgiving—O aid us in all these symbols to read the page of Thy Word aright, and to look within our souls, and all our faculties, powers, and talents to praise Thee, who alone doest wondrous things. (gap|.7em}} Amen.
