fulfil the laws of charity; inasmuch as Thy Word assures us that true charity is always found in doing to others as we would they should do unto us. But amidst all the busy cares and anxieties of this life may we never neglect the one thing needful. May we seek after the truth, and apply it to the regulation of our hearts and lives. And Thou, O glorified Redemeer, art the Truth! Thou art the glorious Sun of righteousness, of which the heat symbolizes Thy perfect love, and the light Thy perfect wiedom; and in the Word of revealed truth Thou hast manifested Thyself, and brought life and immortality to light by the gospel. Amen.

MONDAY EVENING.
O LORD, our Creator and Redeemer, our strength and our defence, our buckler, and the horn of our salvation, our glory, and the lifter up of our head,—to Thee we come at the close of this day'a labour, and unto Thee we desire to render that praise which is due to Thy high and holy name. We know that Thou hast been near unto us all the day, because we are instructed that Thy providence is extended to the most minute things; and though we have been unconscious of danger or of difficulty, yet would we remember, that the pestilence which walketh in darkness, and the destruction which wasteth at noonday, though unseen by us, is yet known to Thee; but if we make Thee our refuge, if we make the Most High our habitation, "there shall no evil befall us, neither shall any plague come nigh our dwelling."
We would confess that it is of Thy tender mercies we are not consumed, and because Thy compassions fail not we are sustained day by day. We gratefully acknowledge Thy fatherly love in our daily preservation.
Lord, confirm us in the practice of that truth which we have this night heard. It is in proportion as we love Thy truth that we are enabled to shun and to hate the thing that is evil; "for he that doeth the truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest that they are wrought in God." We trust in Thee, O Lord, and in confidence in Thy protection lay us down to sleep: Thou wilt sustain us. Amen.

TUESDAY MORNING.
ost holy, righteous, and glorified Lord. Thon art the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the ending, who wast, who art, and
who art to come, the Almighty. Thou art the woell-spring of life. In Thee are hidden all the treasures of knowledge, and Thou art the fountain of happiness in time, and wilt continue to be through eternity. 'We who in this our low estate are but creatures of a day, draw near to Thee to offer our morning sacrifice of prayer and thanksgiving, and to supplicate Thy benediction on the duties of another day. Without the support of Thy hand we are destitute of all power; and without the light of Thy countenance we must toil on in ignorance. Ppowse x
