fruit have we borne! yea, the harvest seems past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved! Amen .

FRIDAY MORNING.

O LORD our Saviour, who art near to succour all Thy children in every time of need, help us, we beseech Thee, to set a watch upon our lips. Help us to remember that Thine eye is never absent from us! O heavenly Father, help us to keep the remembrance of Thy presence before our mind continually, so that we sin not in thought, in word, or deed! Lord, Thou hast formed our spirits; Thou canst not be ignorant of our thoughts, or of the conceptions and purposes of our souls; help us, then, to keep Thee ever before us! Thou art infinite. Knowledge cannot be wanting to Thee, who art its very source. O may the recollection of this ever preserve us from evil, and keep us in so watchful and observant a state that we may "stand in awe and sin not."

Our souls are lost in amazement, as we contemplate Thy infinite wisdom, O God. We can but silently adore the amplitude of that power, the extent of that knowledge, which, ever present, permits, or guides, or orders, or arranges, or restrains all the actions, thoughts, and purposes of all men in all worlds. O may these considerations, while they perpetually warn us against committing evil, open to us a never failing source of consolation. In our greatest troubles, in our severest distresses, in our bitterest anguish, Thou, Lord, art near to assist us, to deliver us out of our troubles, to assuage our sufferings! Knowing this, we will rest in humble assurance that "the Lord of hosts is with us, the God of Jacob is our refuge." Amen.

Our Father, etc.

FRIDAY EVENING.

O LORD, deeply as we have sinned against Thee, undeserving as we are of the continuance of Thy mercy, still, we pray Thee withdraw not from us the influences of Thy good Spirit, but let Thy forbearance be yet known towards us, and grant us yet time to repent, ere we go hence and all opportunity for repentance be ended. O spare us, that we may recover spiritual strength ere we depart and be no more seen.

Lord, we beseech Thee, help us to keep our consciences in a constant state of watchfulness. Help us to strengthen the things that remain, that are ready to perish; to quicken into activity and life the truths which have so long lain dormant; every evening to subject our souls to close self-examination; and from this moment to determine, Thine aid being vouchsafed us, to live a life in harmony with Thy will. Instructed by the warning which Thy Word is ever iterating, watched over by the vigilance with which we pray Thee Thou wilt infil our consciences, resolutely determined to be no longer the slaves of evil, but by a constant watchfulness and looking unto Thee for help, receiving and exercising the weapons of a spiritual warfare against the enemies of our salvation, may we, however hard the conflict against evil may appear, from this evening determine on the warfare, looking continually to Thee for help,
