placed here; not only to prepare for a higher and more glorious state of being, but to engage in those acts of use which minister to the comfort and convenience of others; for "none liveth to himself."
Thou hast designed us as mutual helps; as the body of man is one, though composed of many members, and each member combines with the others to promote one common end of good, so are we members one of another, designed to promote each other's happiness, and placed here to assist each other in bearing our common burthens: and in this way we mutually depend upon each other. And, O Lord, we beseech Thee, enable us to reflect, that none of us "dieth to himself." May we so live, that when we shall be called to the spiritual world, we may yet speak on the acts of charity which Thou hast enabled us to do. Amen.

FRIDAY EVENING.
LORD God Almighty, we approach Thee this evening with humility and thankfulness, convinced of Thy perfect immortality, of the unchangeable nature of Thy love. Thou art the same " yesterday, to-day, ead for ever." Thy throne. O God, is for ever and ever. When we consider the purity of Thy divine nature, and reflect upon the evils by which our lives have been unhappily stained. Thy marvellous goodness stands more open snd conspicuous before us; and though we have rebciled against Thee, yet Thy loving-kindness and tender mercy is continually with us, and we humbly acknowledge how perfect Thou art in goodnesa, forgiving iniquity and sin, and bictting out our transgressions for Thine own neme's sake.
© Lord, an we kneel before Thee we acknowledgc that another day hae run ite efeady course. Can we say that wo have progressed with it? that one step bas been taken in advance on the way of regeneration; tbat one evil has been subdued or even broken, to make way for the implantation of ita opposite good? O how deceitful are our hearts; who shall know them, 0 God!
Bow us down in spirit, we beseech Thee. May we sink in deep humiliation before Thee; O purify us by Thy truth. Thy word ig truth.
Thou abidest. O Lord, in Thy holy mountain. Thy seat is in heaven. In Light and love. Thou art inaccessible; and yet such is Thy gocdnesa that Thou hast attempered Thy glory, and dwejlest with the humble, and through the medium of ministering spirits Thy light and Thy love are sent forth, and become the life and the light ot the world. To Thee. O Lord Jesua Christ, we ascribe all honour and glory for over. Amen.
