Chaplet or Crown
In honour of the Seven Dolors of the most Holy Virgin Mary.
OFFERING OF THE CHAPLET.
MY God, I offer this Chaplet to thy greater glory and in honour of thy most holy Mother, to obtain, through her dolors, a spirit of compunction and penance for the sick and agonizing, as well for myself as for all sinners. Mother of my Redeemer! I offer it in reparation to thy most afflicted heart, which my sins have pierced with the sword of sorrow. May the blood flowing from the wounds of thy divine Son, effectively teach us that love is proved rather by action than by sentiment.
My good angel, my faithful guardian, vouchsafe to present this Crown, that through thy mediation it may become more pleasing to the Queen of Angels.

THE PROPHECY OF VENERABLE SIMEON.
MEDITATE, with profound humility, the sorrow of the Mother of God, when presenting her divine Son in the temple, venerable Simeon announced to her, “ This child is set for the fall, and for the resurrection of many in Israel," and that her “ own soul a sword shall pierce.” (Luke ii.) Such was the sorrowful prophecy which announced to her at the same time the death of her divine Son, and the loss of many souls redeemed by his precious blood.
