He served at Aquitane in 13GS, was Gov. 1384. of Limousin, 1370, Gov. of Calais 1386, P.C., and Steward of the Household to Richard II., and was sum. to Pari, as a Baron (LORD DEVEREUX by writs 28 Sep. (1381) 8 Rich. II to 23 Nov. (1397) 16 Rich. II.; Warden of the Cinque Ports, 1387. K.G., 138S( a ). He »i. Margaret, said by "Dugdale" to be da. of Sir John Babbe, but the Margaret who was his widow was relict of Henry, Lord Beaumont (who d. 1369) and formerly of Sir Nicholas Loyaine, being da. of John (De Vere) 7th Earl of Oxford, by Maud, da. of Bartholomew (Badlesmf.be) Lobd Badlesmehe. He d. 22 Feb. 1392/3 and was bur. in Grey Friars, London. Will dat. June 1385, pr. 21 Feb. 1392/3. His widow was bur. there also. III. 1393 t ' S or 2. John (Devereux), Loro Devereux, only s. to and h. aged 16 in 1393. He m. 1393, Philippa, da. of Guy and 1396. granda. and h. of Sir Guy de Brien. He d. s.p. and under age 13 Nov. 1396, when the Barony of Derereux appears to have ceased, but any right thereto devolved ou his sister and heir, Joan, then aged 17, and wife of Walter, Lord Fitzwalter.
