Founder of a mathematical lecture for the Univ. of Dublin 1668. lie m. firstly, Dorcas, da. of John Hill of Honiley, co. Warwick. She d. s.p.m. 10 April 1630 aged 23. M.I. at Eggesford, Devon. He M. secondly, Mary, da. of John (Dighy,) 1st Eahl ok Bristol, by Beatrix, da. of Charles Walcot. She (having had 7 children) d. s.p.s. 5 Nov. 1648. M.I. at Eggesford afsd. He m. thirdly, 13 Aug. 1651, at St. Barth. the-lcss, London, Lietitia, 1st da. of Sir William Hickks, 1st Bart., by Margaret, da. of William Paget), Loud Paget he Beaudesert. He d. s.p.ui.s. at Belfast 18 March 1674/5, and was bur. 20 May 1675 at Carrickfergus. M.I. at Eggesford afsd. His widow, who was bap. 13 July 1626, at Westm. Abbey, TO. (secondly) 18 March 1674/5, Sir William Franklin of Haverne, Beds, who d. April 1691. She d. shortly afterwards, and was bur. 15 May 1691 iu Westm. Abbey. [William Chichester, styled Lord Ciuciiester, only surv. s. and h, ap. by 3d wife. He d. young and v.p, and was bur. as " The young Lord Chichester" 24 Dec. 1660 at Leyton, co. Essex.] II. 1675. 2. Arthur (Chichester), Earl op Donegall [1647, 1.] Viscount Chichester of Carmckkeugus and Bauon Chichester ok Belfast, [1625, I.] nephew and h. male, being s. and h- of Lieut. Col. John Chichester, of Dungannon, co. Tyrone, by Mary, da. of Koger (Jones), 1st Viscount 11a.nei.auh, [I.] which John was next br. to the last Earl. He was knighted IS Aug. 1660 at Whitehall; M.P. for Dungannon 1661 ; joint Clerk of the Pipe [I.] 1668 ; and, in 1674, sue. his uncle in the Earldom, under the spec. lim. in its grant, and iu the other honours as heir to his grandfather, the grantee. He was attainted by the pari, of James II., as an absentee, but sat in the pari, of King William, 5 Oct. 1692.
