She is spoken of in the patents of 1797 aud 1800, as " Christiana Holy, Baroness Donojigh- more, deed. " her husband being spoken o£ therein as "The Rt. Hon. John JJcly- Hutchinson," also deed." ( b ) This was one of nine Irish Baronies conferred by the Fox ministry in 17S3, at a time when the King refused auy additions to be made to the peerage of Great Britain. See p. 44, note "d,"' sub. "Delaval." f- ( c ) The pedigree of Hutchinson, deduced from Edward H., of Alford. co. Lincoln, whose second son, Richard, purchased Knocklofty and other estates in Ireland (being father of Edward Hutchinson, and grandfather of Mrs. Nickson, mother of Baroness Donoughmore) is given in "The diary and letters of Gov. Hutchinson," by Peter Orlando Hutchinson, vol. ii, pp. 447-57. ( d ) It is generally said that this creation was Viscount Sttirdeile, or Donoughuiore of Suirdalc, but such is not the case. In all the three creations (1783, 1797 and 1800), the title is " Donoughmore of Knocklofty," and the Viscountcy of Hutchinson [U.K.], conferred in 1821, is also of " Knocklotty." The courtesy title used by the ueir ap. has generally been {wrongly ?) " Suirdalc," but should (apparently) be •' Hutchinson," or "Knocklofty."
