[S.], next br. and h., 4. 23 Oct. 2739 ; was an officer in the Royal Navy and subsequently 1760 in the Army, becoming, finally, Major in the 6th Foot till 1775 ; was M.P. for Northampton 1771 -SO, aud for Liskeard, 1780-84 ; High Sheriff of Cheshire (having inherited Woodhey, the estate of the Wilbraham family, in that county), 1785 • High Steward of Ipswich. He m. 4 Feb. 1773, at St. Geo. Han. sq., Anna Maria (sister of his brother's wife), 1st da. of David Lewis abovenamcd. She who was b. 1745 d. at Ham House 14 Sep. 1S04, aged 49, and was bur. 27th at Helmingham. M.I. at Solihull, co. Warwick. He d. s.p. at Ham House 9 March 1821, aged 81. Will pr. 1821. VII. 1821. 7. Louisa, suo jura Countess of Dysart, &c. [S.], eldest sister^) and heir of line. She was 6. 2 July 1745, m. 4 Sep. 1764, at Old Cambus, Haddington, John Manners, of Grantham Grange, co. Lincoln. He (who was an illegit. son of Lord William Manners, by Corbetta Smith, which William was 2d s. of John, 2d Duke OF Rutland), was M.P. for Newark, 1754-74, d, 23 Sep. and was bur. 5 Oct. 1792, at Bottesford, co. Leicester, aged 62. The Countess d. 22 Sep. 1840, at Ham House, aged 95. Will pr. Feb. 1841. (") Lady Jane Halliday, her youngest sister (the only other who left issue) was, by her first husband, John-Delap Halliday, mother of Vice Admiral Johu-lUehard- Dclap Halliday, who by Royal lie. in 1821 took the name of Tollemache on inheriting Helmiugham, co. Suffolk, as also the estates in Cheshire of his mother's ancestors. His sou and h. was, in 1876, or. Baron Tollomacho of Helmingham.
