He m. firstly, 11 or 2. r > Feb. 1706/7, Mary, only da. and h. of Ruishe Wkntwohth, of Sarre in the Isle of Thanet and " of Ireland," by Susanna, sister of James Adyk, of liarham, co. Kent. She, who was " a fortune " (k), d 29 May, and was bur. 4 June 171S, at Lingfield. He TO. secondly, 25 Jan. 1721/2, Elizabeth, widow of Sir Theophilus Napier, Bart., da. of John Rothkkam, of Much Waltham, co. Essex. OF EFFINGHAM, co. Surrey, and took his seat as such 13 Jany. following, having been constituted, 13 Dec. 1731, Deputy Karl Marshal. He had entered the army in 1722, was in 1731 Lieut.-Col. of the Horse Grenadier Guards ; in 1732 Col. of the 20th Reg. of Foot ; in 1737 Col. of the 2nd Horse Grenadier Guards; in 1739 a Brigadier General, and in 1740 Col. of the 4th Horse Guards. He TO. firstly, 23 Feb. 1712/3, at St. James', Westm., Diana, da. of Lieut.-Gen. Fergus O'FaRRELL, of Ireland. He m. secondly, 23 May 1728, by spec, lie, at St. Dunstan's in the East, London, Annie, sister of Robert Bristow, Com- missioner of the Board of Greencloth, da. of Robert Bristow, and Sarah, his wife. He d. 12 Feb. 1712/3, and was bur. 13th at Great Bookham. Will, &c, dat. 27 Aug. to 8 Sep. 1742 (at Ghent) pr. 25 Feb. 1742/3. His widow, who was one of the Ladies of the Bedchamber, d. 15 Nov. 1774 at Hampton Court, Midx., and was bur. 22d at Great Bookham. Will dat. 20 April aud pr. 1 Dec. 1774 ( d ). Earldom. "| 3 aud 9. Having entered the army in 1739 he became 1A - J Lieut -Col. of the 2nd Horse Guards, 1743; Aide-de-camp to tho King, 1749 ; Col. of 34th Foot 1754 ; Col. of the 1st Gren. Guards, and Lieut.-Gen. in the army, 1760. He m., 14 Feb. 1744/5, at St. James' Westm., Elizabeth, sister of William Beekford (Lord Mayor of London, 1770), da. of Peter Beckford, of St. Catherine's, Jamaica, by Bathshua, da. aud coheir of Col. Juliues Herino. He d. 19 Nov. 1763, and was bur. 26 at Great Bookham. Will dat. 7 Oct. 1745, pr. 15 March 1764. His widow, who was 6. 18 and bap. 23 Feb. 1725 at St. Catherine's, Jamaica, afsd., aud who was one of the Ladies of the Bedchamber, m. 21 May 1776 at St. Geo. Han. sq., as his 2d wife, Field Marshal Sir George Howard, K.B., who d. 16 July 1796, aged 78. She d. 13 Oct. 1791, and was bur. 20th at Great Bookham. Admon. May 1792. ( a ) His elder br., Hon.
