Principal Residence- Scutterskelfe, near Yarm, co. York. FALMOUTH. George (Berkeley), Viscount Fitz Hardinge, &c. [I.], was, on 17 March 1664, cr. BARON BOTETOURT OF LANGPORT co. Somerset and EARL OF FALMOUTH. He d. s.p.m., 3 June 1665, w hen these (last named) honours became extinct. See fuller account under " Frrz Hardinge," Viscountey [I.], cr. 1663, ex. 1712. Viscountcy. Gf.orce Fitzroy, was, on 1 Oct. 1G74, cr. BARON I 1 G74 0F PONTEFRACT, VISCOUNT FALMOUTH and EARL OF " tQ NORTHUMBERLAND. See the latter title. Being zealously attached to the House of Hanover, it was chiefly by his exertions that Cornwall (whero "James 111" had been proclaimed " King" in 1715) was kept (piiet. He was joint Vice Treasurer of Ireland, 1717-34 ; P.C. [I.], &c. He was on 9 Juno 1720, cr. BARON OF BOSCAWL'N ROSE aud VISCOUNT FALMOUTH, both co. Cornwall (») He m. 23 April 1700, in Westm. Abbey, Charlotte, 1st da. aud coheir of Charles Godfrey, Master of the Penzance Jewel office, by Arabella, sister of John (Churchill), 1st Duke of Marlborough. He d. suddenly at Trefusis, 25 Oct. 1734, and was bur. 6 Nov. at St. Michael Penkevil, Cornwall. Will dat. 3 Apr. 1734, pr. 21 Jan. 1734/5. His widow, who was Maid of Honour to Queen Anne, d. 22 March 1754, and was bur. 2 April at Penkevil afsd.( b ) Her admon. 2 March 1763.
