Notts, was in 1254 excommunicate and shortly afterwards fled the country, hut was, however, in 1260, made Warden of the Forests I. 12G I. north of Trent, Gov. of Scarborough, and. in 1263, Gov. of York. Ho was actively engaged in the Ramus' rebellion insomuch that he hindered the Sheriff of Yorkshire from stirring, in 1263, in the King's behalf, and he was accordingly sum. as a Baron (LORD DEIVILL) to [Montfort's] Pari. 13 Dec. (1261) 49 Hfiii. IIt.( il ) After the King's victory at Eversham i Aug. 1265 he again was in arms against him, at Chesterfield, in the following jear, but escaped to Axholme, co. Lincoln, making his peace under the "dictum dc Kcnilv;ort/i." He m. in 1274, Maude, widow of Sir James de Aldithlev, for which he paid a fine of £200. Sir John D'Eivill, his s. and h., was never sum. to Pail. He d. s.p.m., when any Barony cr. by the writ of 1204 fell into abeyance between his daughters and eoheirs.( b ) DE LA BECHE. NicnoLAS De La Heche, of Ahhvorth, Berks, was sum. to a council, 25 Feb. (1341/2), 16 Ed. Ill, but as this was not a regular Pad. no Barony could have been thereby created, lie appears to have d. s.p. iu 1340 when his lands passed to the sisters of one John De La Beche. DE LA MARE. Barony by Jonx De La Make, of Garsington, Oxou, served in the Writ French and Scotch wars, anil was sum. to Pari, as a Baron (LORD DE LA MARE) by writs 6 Feb. (1298/9) 27 Ed. I, to 26 July (1313) I. 1299, 7 Ed II. He was one of those sum. to the Pari, of Lincoln, tho' his to name does not appear in the memorable letter addressed by those 131G. Barons to the Pope. He was also sum. to the coronation of Edward II. He ((. s.p. (1315-1316) 9 Ed. II, when his honours became extinct.^) DELAMER OF DUNHAM MASSEY. Barony. Sut George Booth, Bart, of Dunham. Massey, co. j i r.Q-i Chester, s. and h. of William B., by Vere, 2d da. and coheir of Sir Thomas Eoeuton (the 1st s. and h. ap. of the celebrated Lord Chancellor), which William was s. and h. ap. of Sir George Booth, 1st Bart. (1611), but d. v.p. 26 April 1036, was b. 18 Dee. 1622, was M.P. for Cheshire and Custos Rotulorum for that county. He was Conirmmder-iu-Chief for the King of all forces in Cheshire, Lancashire and North Wales, and was imprisoned iu the Tower of London by the Parliamentarians. On 24 Oct. 1652, he sue. his grandfather in the Baronetcy. He was one of the 12 members chosen by the House in May 1060 to recal the King, and was, by it, voted £1 0.000 "for his eminent services and great sufferings in the public cause."
