He was in attendance at the Court as early as 1537, and was one of the escort of Anno uf Cleve in 1540. He m. Mary, da. of George (Nkvill), Lord Arkrcaykssy, by his 3rd wife Mary,( a ) da. of Edward (Stafford), Duke OF BUCKIHOHAM. Haviug taken part in a deer hunting expedition from Laughtou Park, Sussex, wherein one of the park keepers met his death, ho was found guilty of murder, and was hung at Tyburn, 29 June, 1541, whereby it was considered that his honours were forfeited. He was bur. at St. Sepulchre's, near Newgate, being aged 24. X. 1/541, 10. Gregory (Fiennes), Lord Dacre 1st surv.( b )s. and or h. was restored in blood and honours by Act of Pari. He accompanied the Earl of Lincoln, 1562, on his Embassy to Paris, but is said to have been " crackbrained."( c ) He m. Ann, sister of Thomas 1st Eaul of Dorset, da. of Sir Richard Sackyille, by Winifred, da. of Sir. John Bruges. He d. s.p. 25 Sept., 1594. and was bur. at Chelsea, Midx. Will pr. 1594. His widow d. 14, and was bur. there 15 May, 1595, Will pr. 1595, wherein she founded various almshouses in Tothill tields, Westminster. XI. 1594. 11. Margaret, cuo jure, Baroness Dacre, sister and heir. Her claim to the Barony, was referred to commissioners, for the office of Earl Marshal both by Queen Eliz. and James I ; these, on 8 Dec., 1604, declared her right to the same. She who was A. 1541, M. 1564, Sampson Lennard of Chevening and of ApuldrehYM (in Cudhaui), co. Kent, who was Sheriff of Kent, 1590-91, and sometime M.I', for that county. The Baroness d. 10 March 1611, aged 70, and was bur. at Chevening. M.I. Her husband who was about to have been sum. to the House of Lord* in his wife's Barony, obtained by royal warrant 2 April 1612, the precedence due to the eldest son of " Lord Dacre of the Soulh."^) He d. 20 June 1615, aged 71, and was bur. at Chevening. M.l. Inq. p. mortem. XII. 1611. 1,2. Henry (Lennard), Lord Dacre, s. and h., bap. at Chevening, 29 May 1570 ; knighted at Cadiz by the Earl of Essex, 22 June 1596. He m. in 1589 (her portion £2,200), Chriaogona, da. of Sir Richard Baker of Sissiughurst, Kent, by Elizabeth (widow of George Barket of Belhouse, Essex), da. and h. of Thomas Dineley of Stanford Dineley, Berks. He d. 8 and was bur. 9 Aug. 1616, at Chevening. Inq. post mortem 14 Jac. I. Admon. 21 Nov. 1616. His widow was bur. at Chevening, 30 Sep. 1616. XIII. 1616. 13. Richard (Lennard), Lord Dacre, s. and h., aged 20 years 4 months and 8 days at his Father's death. He re-built the house at Chevening after a plan of Inigo Jones. He m. firstly, Elizabeth, da. and coheir of Sir Arthur THROCKMORTON, of Paulerspury, co. Northampton, by Anne, da. of Sir John Lucas of co. Essex. She was bur. at Chevening, 19 Feb. 1621/2. He m. secondly 4 Jany. 1624/5, at St. Giles Cripplegate, Dorothy, da. of Dudley (North), 3d Lord North, by Fiances, da. of Sir John Brocket. He d. 20 Aug. 1630, at Hurstrnonceaux, and was bur. there, leaving £'50 a year to his cousin Randal Dacre, the heir male of this family. Will pr, 1630. Fun. certif. Inq. post mortem.
