Dugdale suggests that he may be the same as John Mauduit who died 1 April 1304, seized of the manor of Wermenstre, Wilts, and lands in Dorset, Gloucestershire, &c, leaving Maud, da. of his son, Thomas (who d. v.p.), his heir, and then aged nine.
