He was sum. to Pari. v.p.^ 29 Dec. 1 7 II, in his father's Barony as Lord Bruce of Whorl- TON.(^) On his death, j./.w-j., 10 Feb. 1746/7, the Barony of Bruce of Whorlton and the other English honours which he had inherited became extinct; the Barony of Bruce of Tottenham devolved, accord- ing to the spec. rem. ^on his nephew; and the Earldom of Elgin, &c. James Brudenell, yr. s. of George, 3rd Earl of Cardigan, was, on 17 Oct. 1780, cr. BARON BRUDENELL OF DEENE, co. Northampton. In 1 790 he sue. his br. as Earl of Cardigan.
