CADOGAN 465 Family Estates. — These consistchiefly of the (lucrative) manorof Chelsea, Midx., which was bought from the family of Cheyne in 1712, by Sir Hans Sloane, Bart., on whose death s.p.tn., 1 1 Jan. 1753, in his 92nd year, it de- volved on his two daughters, one of whom m. Lord Cadogan. The Rt. Hon. Hans Stanley, only s. of the other da., d. s.p. (committing suicide at Althorpe) 13 Jan. 1780, leaving the reversion of his moiety, after the death of his two sisters, to the Cadogan family, who became thereby, eventually, possessed of the whole. The names of Sloane Str., Hans Place, Cadogan Sq., tfc, testify its extent.
