Robes were sent to "the King of Spain" in 1405, and to the King of Portugal for the first time in 1408. Nicolas suggests this view, which Beltz does not adopt, but the balance of evidence seems to be in favour of it. If such is the case, the King of Portugal probably succeeded the King of Spain.
