Ill, by writs directed Hugoni de Curtenay, whereby he is held to have become LORD COUR- TENAY, ('^) the later writs having the addition of '■'■Senior." He was in the Scottish wars; was at the siege of Carlaverock in 1300; was knighted, by the Prince of Wales, 22 May 1306; a Banneret 1308; was one of the (*) " Isabella de Fortibus Comitissa Albe Marlie." " Warinus de Insula est propinquior heres ipsius Isabelle at est etatis XXX annorum et amplius [plene etatis — co. Herts]."
