form a useful addition to the library of every stu dent of Roman law. The second volume, contain ing books vii to xv, is now published in this coun try by G. P. Putnam's Sons. At the time of Mr. Monro's lamented death 336 pages of this volume had been printed, and the rest was in manuscript, which had not received his final revision, but which it was thought proper to print substantially as it stood. The value of this version of the text of the Digest can hardly be overestimated.
