Shapuh, having lent a willing ear to this accusation, sent a strict comnand to Khosrove to repair instantly to Persia. The latter^ exasperated at this message, exclaimed, '^ Am I the slave of Shapuh, that he chooses to treat me with this indignity? What business has he with me?" He then drove the messengers from his court with every mark of disgrace, and immediately after sent to the emperor Arcadiua for assistance against the Per- sians.
