Just after this event Haza* ravukht received an order from king Phiroz to march with his army into Georgia. He therefore was obliged to leave Armenia, after appointing one Shapuh, of the family of Mihran, prefect of that country ; and leaving him in the district of Basen with 3,000 Persians, and Gu- dihon, chief of the Seunies, with his followers, to secure his government, and preserve it from any future attacks of Vahan and his party.
