Soon after the French were embarked, the new Engliſh Governor, John Orde, Eſq. landed from a frigate in the bay, under a diſcharge of cannon from that veſſel; which ſalute was returned by the fort on his landing. When eſcorted by the whole of the Engliſh inhabitants, amidft the ſhouts of "Long live King George," he was conducted to the Court-houſe in Rofeau; and after having had his commiſſion proclaimed, and taking the uſual oaths on the occaſion, he retired to partake of the general joy, and of a very genteel entertainment prepared for him by the colony.
