A STUDY OF
KAMBAN'S RAMAYANAM

Although the Tamil poet has taken his story írom Valmiki and almost closely follows him in the conduct of it, his art is so much greater, his characters are so mnuch more grand, his insight into human nature so much deeper, that we are justified in saying that those who do not know Kamban's Ramayanam have missed one of the most sublime creations of the human mind.

The critical estimate of Kamban will be accompanied by translations of the more remarkable passages from the Ramayanam and also, in certain cases, of parallel passages from Valmiki, Tulsi Das, and Bhaskara, the Telugu poet. The Ramayanam will also be compared with the Paradise Lost, the Divina Comedia, the Eneid and the Iliad.

The book will contain about 400 pages Crown Octavo and will be ready on the Ist of March 1917. It will be priced Rs 5 in paper covers and Rs. 5-12 cloth bound. To those, however, who register their names with the author before the 3oth of November 1916,the book will be charged only Rs. 3-8 and Rs. 4-4. Postage extra.
