uthers aftes and ftatutes , maid in generall Councell, and utherwaies, forfup- prefllng of dearth in this Realme , of vivers and wines : Like as in the faidis Attes and flatutes maid thereupon , is at mair length conteined ■ Not with Handing the multiplie of Wines dailie cummand within this Realme , at the Eafte and Weft Seas , tlie prices thereof decay is not , bot the faide dearth remainis , and the occa- fion thereof is underftandin to confift in our Soveraine Ladies Lieges , that fore- ftallis and byis the famin in privie maner, & howe foone the famin ar coft , puttis _ the famin in fecreit houfes , and not in open taverns , felland the famin upon higher prices, northecommounTavernesdois: And befide the famin , fik Wines as ar fald in commoun Tav ernes , ar commounlie bee all Taverners mixt with aulde corruptc Wines , and with water , to the great appeirand danger and feicknefle of the byers, and greate perrell of die fauies of the fellers: And for remeid hereof, & to efchew fik inconvenientes in time cumming : It is devifed , ftatute and ordained be the Lord Go- vernour, and the three Eflaites of Parliament, That nancofour Soveraine Ladies lieges, take upon hande to bye onie Wines that is cummen, or fall happen to cum at the Eafte & North-lande Sea5, fra this daye foorth, of ony dearer prices nor twentie pounde the tun o{ Burdeaux Wine , and the Roche/ Wine for fexteen pounde the tun, and that naneofthem fell the famin of ony dearer price, nor ten pennies the pinte of Burdeaux Wine, and the Roche/ Wine for audit pennies the pynt , within the boundes forefaidis : And that na Wines- that is cum in at the Weft Seas , or is to cum in, be bocht of onie dearer price , nor fexreene pound the tun of Burdeaux Wine , and die Roche/Wine for twelve or thretteen pound die tun , and that nane of them fell the famin of ony dearer price , nor aucht pennies the pynt of Burdeaux Wine , and lex pennies the pynt of Ro- che/Wine, underthepaineof efcheittingofall the faidis Wines, that they fall happen to bye, togidderwith the reft of their gudes moveable , for their contemption : And that na maner of Taverners take upon hand to make onie mixtion with ony auld Wines and new Wines of this zeire , or put ony water in the famin, under the paine of efcheiting of the puncheon , that fik auld Wine or water fall be put into , togidder with the reft of all and findrie the Wines , being the awners of fik ane taverne, and tinfell of their freedome forever : And in like maner , that nane of our Soverain Ladies Lieges , byears of fik Wines , and havares of taverns, take upon hande to huird or hide ony fik Wine coft bee them in their houfes and privie places , bot that they put the famin in their commoun Tavernes and Vaukes thereof, to beefaulde indifTerentlic to oUr Soveraine Ladies lieges , upon the prices before expreemed , under the paines forefaidis : Providing alwaies that the Burgh of Saint John-ftoun , fall have licence to fell the Wines coft be them , twa pennies of the quarte dearer, nor uther Burrowes adjacent unto them. IX. Of the prices of wild and tame me ate s. ITEM, It is ftatute and ordained, that the aftc and ordinances maid upon the prices of all wilde-fowles and tame-fowles , be obferved and keiped , and upon the byers and fellers thereof, to be put to execution in all poyntes , after the forme and tenour thereof , and the paines conteined in the fame to be execute upon them: Of the quhilk the tenour followis ; The quhilk daye ; For-fa-meikle as the Queenis Grace , the Lorde Governour , and Lords of fecreit Councell , havand refpect to the great and exorbitant dearth rifen in this Realme , upon the wilde and tame fowles , for putting of ordour hereto , and remeid hereof : It is devifed , ftatute and ordained be the Queenis Grace , the Lord Governour , and Lordes of fecreit Coun- cell : That the wilde-meat, and tame-meat underwritten, befauldin all times cumming of the prices following : That is to fay , in the firft , the Cran , five fhillinges : The Swan , five fhillinges : The wild Gufe of the great bind, twa fliillinges: Theclaik.quink&rute, the price of the peece, auchteene pennies.
