ITEM, For-fameikle as the Queenis Grace , the Lord Governour , and the three Eftaites oi Parliament, havand refpeft to the great and hcavic opprclTion done to the Lieges of this Realme , and fpeciallie be ter- riers o{ King-borne , Queenis- Ferrie , and IDimdie , in taking of their fraucht fra them , and that the Queenis Lieges , notvvithftanding the weichtie charges and expenfes deburfed to fik Ferriers , ar not ferved , as ap- perteinis to be done : And for remeid hereof , in refpecl: of the dearth of vivers , difpenfis with the acl:e maid hereupon of before for ane zeir : It is ftatuteand ordained, that na maner of pcrfon, awner of anie Boates , at the Ferries forefaid , tak upon hand to tak ony fraucht fra ony of our Soverainc Ladies Lieges for their portage , bot as after followis : 1 hat is to fay , gif ony perlon wauld have ane boate be himfelfe , at the Ferric of King-borne , that he take for his fraucht and portage , ten fhillinges : And quhair companie conveenis at the faid Ferrie , .the horfe and man to pay for their portage , twelve pennies. And the man or woman be himfelfe, but horfe, to pay for their portage , fex pennies. And that the Ferriers of the Queenis- Ferrie, andTlundie, gif ane man defiris ane boate bee himfelfe, to paye for his portage , four fhillinges. And everie ilk man and horfe, audit pennies. And ilk man or woman be thcmfelfe, foure pennies, under the paine of death, and confifcation of all their gudes, with certification to them , and they do the contrair , that they fall be called to particular diettes and Juftice couitcs , and fall be puniihed there- fore with all rigour , as breakers of the actcs of Parliament. ITEM, It is ftatute and ordained be the Lord Governour , with advife of the three Eftaites of Parlia- ment, that the acles and ftatutes maid of before, againfl falfe Notars and witnefle , corrupters and fedu- ccresoftheminwrit, TcmporallorSpirituallcourtes , to bee obferved and keiped in all poyntes, and rati- fies and apprievis the famin of new , with this addition : 1 hat all fik perfones fall be puniihed in their pcr- foncs and gudes with all rigour : Videlicet, prefcription , banifhinganddif-membringofhande or toung, and uther paines , provided be the difpofition of the commoun Law, baith Cannon, Civill, and ftatutes of the Realme. And this acle to be extended to all maner of evidentes , aetes , obligations , acquittances, or uthers writings quhat-fumever , and the makers , feinziears , ufers , feducers , corrupters , and f alfars thereof, alfweill as to falfe inftrumentes. 13, The price of ' Craftefmennis wark. T E M , For-fa-meikle as the Lorde Governour , and the three Eftaites of Parliamente , regairdand the exorbitant prices that everie Craftef-man within Burgh , raifis upon our Sovcraine Ladies Lieges , in all fik thinges as perteinis to their Craft , fwa that the prices ar doubled and tripled be mony of them , to the great® hurt ofthefaidis Lieges, quhilk is confiddered to be ofprafticque be the Deakones of everie craft, and the fault thereof is alway in the Proveft and Baillies of everie Burgh , that over-feis the faidis Deakones , Craftef- men, and correctis them not , conforme to the acl:e of Parliament : Therefore it is ftatute and ordained , that all Proveftes and Baillies of free Burrowes with all diligence , conveene the faidis Deakones and Craftef- men afore them , and there on everie thing perteming to Craftef-men, to ftatute and ordaine reafonable prices, efFeirand to their craft , and that the famin be put in writ, and produced afore the Lordes of the ar- tickles in the nixt Parliament , to be halden the thrid clay oi^Aprill nixt-to-cum , to be confiddered be them, gif they be reafonable , and gif fwa be , to be authorized , and gif they be unreafonable , to be reformed : And fik-like , that cfTeirand to the prices of vidtualles , that the faidis Proveft and Baillies caufe the Hoftellares to take ane reafonable price for ane mannis dinner and fupper , that they may hald their awin , and the Queenis lieges be not fa grieved and hurt throw the great prices, taken far abone all cuftome and ufe , as lies bene in this Realme afore thir dayes , and as beis ftatute hereupon in Burgh , that the famin be delivered to the Schi- refTeoftheSchire, to garre the faidis prices be keiped to Landwart. And gif ony of the faidis Deakones or Hoftellares obeyis not the ordinance of the faidis Proveft and Baillies , that they deprive them of their Offi- ces and priviledge , and after they be deprived , gif they meddle farther there- with, to be called to underly the Law to particular diettes , afore the great Juftice , as for contemning and breaking of the actes of Parlia- ment , and to be puniihed in their perfones and gudes with all rigour. s . ... ,..
