T '"Clerk, quha fall be halden with all diligence to raife letters, and caufe uptake the efcheittes of the rebelles, ifchehfuU to our Soveraine Lords ufe. And quhen our Soveraine Lords Comptroller, Collectour generall, or ony llH^rkl uther perfon, prefents letters of horning , dewlie execute and indorfat , to the faid Lord 1 hefaurer , or his fauttr. Clerk, for fpeciallfummes of money or debt : The Thefaurer fall caufe raife letters thereupon, at his in- ftance, for uptaking of the efcheit, direct outlier to the SchirefTe of the Schire, or his deputes , or to Offi- ciars of Armes, asitmaybeftferve, be advife of the complener , of the readieft and firftende of the quhilk efcheit, the partie complener , fall be payed of his juft debt, with the officiars expenfes , and the fuper-plus of the faid efcheit, to be brocht in to his Majefties Thefaurer, within the fpace of ane Moneth thereafter. Providing that the partie complener , and prefenter of the letters , to the Thefaurer , make the firft expenfes upon the SchirefFe or Officiar , that fall be directed, for uptaking of the faidis efcheit guddes, quhill the efcheit vefont- felfe, may releeve the faidis expenfes, and then the fame to be tane, and allowed of the efcheit.
