L I K E- m S His Majefty ORDAINS, the whole Free-holders of each Shire , and Srewartry , having eledion of [Commiffioners , Tomeetandconvee&atthe head Burghs thereof, and to make up a Roll of all the Free- Riolders within the fame, whether lying within Stewartries, not having Commiffioners,or Bailiaries of Royalty, Ibr Regality , or without the fame , upon the firft Tuefday of May next to come , according as the fame fhall fpe inftiufted to be of the holding , extent or valuation forefaid, containing the Names and Defignations of the Fiars , Liferenters , and Husbands , having right to vote for the fame, in manner above written, and expref- Ming the extent , or valuations of the faids Free-holders , with power to continue , or Adjourn their Meetings Lnnll the faid Roll for Elections be fully compleat. L I K E A S , The faids Free-holders lliall meet and con- Bveen , at the Head Burghs of the faids Shires , & Sterwartries reftective, at the Michaelmas head Court yearly thereafter , and fhall revife the faid Roll of Election , and make fuch alterations therein , as have occurred fince [heir laft Meeting , from time to time; which Roll for Election fhall be infert in the S heriff, or Stewart books, [particularly appointed for that end, according as they fhall be ftated each Michaelmas Court And at the Elec- tion of Commiffioners , either at the Michaelmas Court , or at the calling of Parliament , or Conventions , the faids Free-holders fhall meet and conveen at the Head- Burgh of the Shire , or Stewartry in that Rowm , Evhere the SherrirFor Stewart Court ufeth to be held, betwixt mid-day , and two afternoon, which Rowm Khali be patent to them , and all others removed , but whom they call , and die firft or fecond Commiffioner Baft Elefted , or in their abfence the Sherriff or Stewart Clerk fliall ask the Votes who fliall prefide , and who ■hall be Clerk to the Meeting , and in cafe any alteration have happened in the faid Roll of Elections fince the Baft Meeting , the perfons dien coming to have right to Vote , fliall be infert in the Roll , and there lhall no [objection be admitted againft any Infert in the faid Roll as faid is , but what fliall be propounded before they Jbegin to vote to Election : And if the Objeclers fhall not be cleared , and acquiefce, they fhall take Inftruments [containing their Objections againft the admitting to , or excluding any perfon from the forefaid Roll .- AND It is Hereby Declared , that no other Objection fhall be competent in Parliament or Convention , but what Bhall be contained in the Inftruments taken , as aforefaid : And in C3fe Objections be made when a Parliament [pr Convention is not called , a particular Diet fhall be appointed by the Meeting, andintimatto the Parries [contra vertino- , to attend the Lords of Seflion, for their determination, who fhall determine the fame at the [laid Diet fummarly according to Law, upon Supplication without farther Citation. And it is hereby De- clared , that Horning for a civil Caufe , or Non-refidence , fhall be no fufficient Objection , but that the Min- ority being inftantly verified fliall be a fufficient Objection , or the not taking the Teft appointed by the fixth [iAcl: of this prefent Parliament , which is hereby ordained to be fubferibed by all the Voters in Prefence of the Meeting; before they proceed to the Election , and recorded in the Sherriff Court Books , and fo returned with the Commiffion to die Clerk of Regifter. And if the Perfons Objected againft , fhall appear at the Par- liament, or Convention , and inftruct the Right to Vote, the Objecter fhall pay their expences, and be farther Fined in Five hundred Merks : And if the Objection be fuftained in Parliament , the objecters appear- ing fliall have their expences,and the Party Objected againft fhall be Fined in Five hundred Merks. And to the feftect that fufficient advertifement may be given to all parties having Vote in Election , who are to elect at the [icalling of a Parliament, or Convention , theSherriffs and Stewards, are hereby ordained to make Publi- cation of the Call and Diet of the faid Parliament , and Convention , and of the Diet appointed for Election , land that at the Head-Burgh of the Shire or Stewartry , upon a Mercat day betwixt ten and twelve in the 'Forenoon; And alfo fliall make the like Intimation at each Paroch Kirk, on Sunday immediatly thereafter, ! which Diets for Election , fhall at leaft be twelve dayes before the Meeting of Parliament , or eight dayes be- iorethe meeting of a Convention , that the Commilfioners elected may have fufriciency of time to keep the Diet of the Parliament or Convention. to contribute for the charges of the Commiffioners thereof, according to their valuation, except only thofe
