William Wycherley.

A Shropſhire Gentleman, who has excell’d all Writers in all Languages, in Comedy, and moſt of the Poets of the preſent Age in generous Dealing with thoſe he owns his Friends, he has writ Four Plays,

The Country Wife, a Comedy, 4 to. 1683. acted at the Theatre Royal. This Play from the beginning has been frequently acted with great Applauſe.

The Gentleman Dancing-Maſter, a Comedy, 4 to. 1673. acted at the Duke’s Theatre.

Love in a Wood; or, St. James’s Park; a Comedy, 4 to. 1672. acted at the Theatre Royal, by his Majeſty’s Servants; and dedicated to the Dutcheſs of Cleveland.

The Plain Dealer, a Comedy, 4 to. 1678. acted at the Theatre Royal, by his Majeſty’s Servants. This is accounted the moſt excellent of all his Comedies, of which and the Author, Mr. Dryden and Mr. Evelyn gives a large Encomium. Some of the Characters are in Molliere’s Le Miſanthrope, and Scarron’s City Romance, 8 vo.

Robert Yarrington.

An Author in Queen Elizabeth’s Reign, who writ one Play, entituled,

Two Tragedies in one, 4 to. 1601. Two Murthers, one of a Chandler and his Boy, the other of a Child in a Wood, by Order or Contrivance of his Uncle, are the Subject of this Play.
