into tentation. The spirit in deed is prompt, but the flesh weak. 42Againe the second time he went, and prayed, saying: My Father, if this chalice may not passe, but I must drinke it, thy wil be done. 43And he commeth againe, and findeth them sleeping: for their eyes were become heavy. 44And leaving them, he went againe: and he prayed the third time, saying the selfsame word. 45Then he commeth to his Disciples, and saith to them: Sleepe ye now and take rest. Behold the houre approcheth, and the Sonne of man shal be betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46Rise, let us goe: behold he approcheth that shal betray me.

47 Jo. 18, 3.* As he yet spake, behold Judas one of the Twelve came, and with him a great multitude with swordes and clubs, sent from the cheefe Priests and the Ancients of the People. 48And he that betrayed him, gave them a signe, saying: Whomsoever I shal kisse, that is he, hold him. 49And forthwith comming to Jesus, he said: Haile Rabbi. And he kissed him. 50And Jesus, said to him: Freind, wherto art thou come? Then they drew nere, and laid hands on Jesus, and held him. 51And behold one of them that were with Jesus, stretching forth his hand, drew out his sword; and striking the servant of the high Priest, cut of his eare. 52Then Jesus saith to him, Returne thy sword into his place: for al that take the sword shal perish with the sword. 53Thinkest thou that I cannot aske my Father, and he wil give me presently more then twelve legions of Angels? 54How then shal the scriptures be fulfilled, that so it must be done? 55In that houre Jesus said to the multitudes: You are come out as it were to a theefe with swords and clubs to apprehend me. I sate daily with you teaching in the temple, and you laid no hands on me. 56And al this was done, that the scriptures of the Prophets might be fulfilled. Then the Disciples al leaving him, fled.

57But they taking hold of Jesus, led him to Caiphas the high Priest, where the Scribes and Ancients were assembled. 58And Peter folowed him a farre off, even to the court of the high Priest. And going in he sate with the servants, that he might see the end. 59And the cheefe Priests and the whole Councel sought false witnes against Jesus, that they might put him to death: 60and they found not, whereas many false witnesses had come in. And last of al there came two false witnesses; 61and they said: Jo. 2, 19.* This man said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and after three dayes to reedifie it. 62And the high Priest rising up, said to him: Answerest thou nothing to the things which these do testifie against thee? 63But Jesus held his peace. And the high Priest said to him: I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tel us if thou be Christ the Sonne of God. 64Jesus saith to him: Thou hast said. Nevertheles I say to you, hereafter you shal see Dan. 7, 13.* the Sonne of man sitting on the right hand of the power of God, and comming in the clouds of Heaven. 65Then the high Priest rent his garments, saying: He hath blasphemed, what need we witnesses any further? Behold, now you have heard the blasphemie; 66how thinke you? But they answering said: He is guilty of death. 67Then did they spit on his face, and buffeted him, and other smote his face with the palmes of their hands, 68saying: Prophecie unto vs O Christ; who is he that strook thee?
