GEORGE IV. born at St. James's Palace 12 Aug. 1762; created Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester 17 Aug. 1762; Regent of the United Kingdom 5 Feb. 1811, until his accession to the throne; crowned by Charles Manners-Sutton, Archbishop of Canterbury, at Westminster Abbey, 19 July, 121; d. 26 June, 1830, having m. 8 April, 179, his cousin H.R.H. Princess Caroline Amelia Elizabeth, 2nd dau. of Charles William Ferdinand, reigning Duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel; she d.7 Aug. 1821, bur. at Windsor, having had an only dau.
(1) PrIncess Charlotte Augusta of Wales b. 7 Jan. 1796; died after the birth of a stillborn son 6 Nor, 1817; in. 2 May, 1816, as 1st wife, to Prince Leopold George Frederick, of Saxe Coburg-Saalfeld, elected King of the Belgians 4 June, l831,and d. 11 Oct 1850.
