PRINCE ALFRED ERNEST ALBERT, Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Ulster and Kent, Prince of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Duke of Saxony and Prince of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, K.G., K.T., G.C.S.I., G.C.M.G., P.C., Master of the Trinity House, Rear-Admiral of the Fleet, and a Colonel in the German army, also Captain in the Russian Black Sea Fleet, and Naval A.D.C. to the Queen; b. 6 Aug. 1844; baptized at Windsor Castle; m. 23 Jan. 1874, at St. Petersburg, H.I.H. the Grand Duchess Marie Alexandrovna (V.A., C.I.), only dau. of His Majesty the Emperor of All the Russias, and has a son and 3 daus.

Creation—By letters patent under the Great Seal, 24 May, 1866.

Arms—The royal arms, differenced by a label of three points arg. charged with St. George's cross, between two anchors az.; on an inescutcheon the arms of Saxony.

Crest—On a coronet a lion guardant or, crowned with a coronet, differenced as the arms.

Supporters—The royal supporters crowned and differencd as in the crest.

Seat—Eastwell Park, Ashford, Kent.

Residence—Clarence House, St. James's, S.W.
