By his 1st wife he had with other issue 6 sons, (1) Sir Robert, of Castleton, Knt. advocate 1714; o. v. p. 21 Aug. 1734, having m. 1st — 23 Feb. 1707, Johanna Hamilton, only child of John,'master of Bargeny, and 2ndly, Anne, dau. of Sir William Cunningham, Bart, of Caprington, Ayrsh.; she d. 23 Jan. 1776. His grandson through the 1st marriage. Sir Hew Hamilton Dalrymple, s. as 3rd Baronet. (2) Hew, lord Drummore of Session 1726, and of justiciary 1745; b. 30 Nov. 1690; d. 18 June, 1755, having m. Anne, dau. and heir of John Horn, of Horn and Westall, Aberdeeush. and was grandfather of Sir Robert DalrjTiiple-Hom-Elphinstone, created a Baronet 19 Dec. 1827 (see). (3) John, capt. Inniskilling dragoons; b. 17 April, 1692; d. 19 April, 1753, liaving m. Mary, dau. of Alexander Ross, of Bal- kail, CO. Wigton (she d. 1793, having re-m. to Sir James Adolphus Oughton, K.B.) and had a son. Sir Hew Wliiteford Dalrymple, created a BARONET 6 May 1815, extinct on the death of his son Gen. Sir Adolphus John Dalrymple, M.P. 2nd Baronet, 3 Mar. 1866. (4) William, capt. m the army; b. 19 Oct. 1693, married. His wife d. 25 Mar. 1746. (5) James, of Nunraw, b. 27 Jan. 1698; m. and left issue; male issue extinct. SIR HEW HAMILTON-DALRYMPLE, 3rd Baronet (on the death of his father, Sir Hew), in the army, M.P. co. Haddington 1780 1786, auditor of excise, Scotlanil, assumed the additional surname of HAMILTON in 1796, on inlieriting the Bargeny estates from his uncle John Hamilton; d. 13 Feb. 1800, having m. his cousin Janet, dau. of William Duff, Esq. of Crombie, and had with 3 daus. 3 sons, (1) Sir Hew assumed the surname of Hamilton after Dal- rjTnple, on succeeding as 4th Baronet.
