SIR CHARLES DOUGLAS, an eminent naval officer (de- scended from Sir Archibald Douglas, Knt. first of Kirk- ness, 2ndsou of William, 6th Earl of Morton), was created a Baronet 23 Jan. 1777, for his relief of Quebec in 1776, during the American war ; he d. 10 Mar. 1789, having m. Jane, dau. of John Baillie, Esq. and had with 2 daus. 2 sons, who became successive Baronets, viz : — (1) Sir William Henry Douglas, 2nd Baronet, vice-adm. of the blue ; d. unm. 23 May, 1809.
