SIR WILLIAM D'OYLY, of Pond Hall and Shottisham, Norfolk (great-grandson of Sir Henry D'Oyly, of Pond Hall, knighted at Boulogne by Hexry VIII. and d. 13 Feb. 1572; great-grandson of Edward D'Oyly, the first of Pond Hall by his wife Anne, dau. and heir of Hclmin Legat), succeeded to the estates of his uncle Sir Henry D'Oyly; knighted by Charles I. for his services under Gustaviis Adolphus ; was a zealous loyalist; M.P. Yarmouth ; created a BARONET 29 July, 1663; m. Margaret Randall, of Piilham, Norfolk. His eldest son, SIR WILLIAM, 2nd Baronet, knighted at Whitcliall 30 April, 1664, teller of the exchequer; d. 1G80, having m. 1st, Mary, dau. of George Hadley, of East Barnet, high sheriff Herts 1691, and had mth other issue 2 sons. (1) Sir Edmund, 3rd Baronet; d. Oct. 1760, leaving an only son, Sir Edmund, 4tlx Baronet, d. unm. 1763. (2) Hadley, of Castle Yard, Holborn, solicitor, m. Elizabeth, dau. of Charles Yallop, Knt. son of Sir Robert Yallop, of Beauthorp, Norfolk, and had with other issue 2 sons, [1] Sir Hadley, 5th Baronet, rector of Wooton and Felix- stow, Suffolk; d. June, 1765, having m. Henrietta Maynard, dau. of Rev. Henry Osborne, of Nailsworth, Wilts, vicar of Thaxted, Essex. His grandson, Sir John Hadley, s. as 8th Baronet. [2] Thomas, attorney-at-law, G.I. ; d. at Bencoolen, Sumatra, about 1770, having had by Jane, dau. of Richard Walker, of Petworth, Sussex, vnXb. 4 daus. as many sons, of whom the only survivor, Edward, E.I.C.S. m. 5 Oct. 1768, Anna Maria, dau. and eventually sole heir of Jonathan Black, of Westminster, brewer; she il. 10, bur. in Westminster Abbey 17 July, 1788, having had a son (see Topographer and Genealogist, vol. ii. p. 18, et seq. note). SIR JOHN HADLEY D'OYLY, 8th Baronet (on the death of his brother, Sir Charles, 21 Sept. 1845), magistrate and collector of Mednapore, E.I.C.S.; b. 29 Sept. 1794; d. 21 Mar. 1869, having m. 1 Dec. 1819, Charlotte, dau. of George Nesbitt Thompson, Esq. of Penton Lodge, Hants, secretary to Right Hon. Warren Hastings, when governor of India ; she d. , having had 2 sons, (1) Sir Charles Walter, 9th and present Baronet. (2) George Fendall, capt. 67th B.N.I. ; b. 3 Nov. 1824 ; d Aug. 1859. SIR JOHN m. 2ndly— Mary, eldest dau. of (Hon.) John Fen- dall, member of supreme council Calcutta, and had another son, (3) Warren Hastings, B.c.s. heir presumptive to the Baronetcy ; b. 6 April, 1838; m. Mar. 1859, Henrietta, 2nd dau. of Sir Frederick Halliday, K.C.B. lieut.-governor of Bengal, and has 4 sons and 5 daus.
